On October 29th, the Phan Chau Trinh University held its Opening Ceremony for the 2022-2023 academic year, warmly welcoming the incoming batch of freshmen for the K22 intake. The event was marked by a solemn and distinguished atmosphere, evoking a sense of uniqueness and a plethora of emotions.
Following the speeches by Dr. Nguyen Huu Tung, the Chairman of the University Council, and Dr. Pham Hung Van, the President of the university, an important ceremonial moment took place, which served as the focal point of the ceremony. It was the white coat ceremony for the incoming freshmen of the General Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, and Medical Laboratory Technology programs.
In traditional attire (Ao Dai for female students and suit for male students), each freshman was individually bestowed the white blouse by professors, doctors, and experts in their respective fields, symbolizing a significant responsibility and the beginning of a medical career. The professors, who are the senior generation leading the way, hope that the students will always uphold the white coat throughout time, maintaining their enthusiasm and love for the profession, relentlessly pursuing knowledge, and utilizing the acquired knowledge to save lives and serve humanity.
"For the sake of compassion for humanity, I will save everyone and pass on the profession to those who are capable and willing. Respecting the lives of patients and the noble ideals of the medical profession, I will continuously learn and research throughout my life..." - Truong Thai Minh Duy, representing the freshmen, passionately took the oath before the medical community, professors, colleagues, predecessors, and most importantly, their professional conscience. However, this is only the beginning.
During the inauguration ceremony, the university awarded 11 scholarships to 11 freshmen with the highest overall scores. Among them, five scholarships were given to students with scores ranging from 28.0 to the highest score of 28.8 (without priority points). The remaining scholarships included four 50% tuition fee scholarships and two 30% tuition fee scholarships for students with scores of 27.7 and above, who have achieved outstanding accomplishments.
Sharing her emotions after the ceremony, Dương Trần Duy Quỳnh, a medical student from the class of 2022-2028, said, "This is an inauguration filled with mixed emotions and pride. The moment when we received the white blouse from our professors reaffirmed my belief that the path I have chosen is the right one because on that path, we, the next generation of students, receive utmost support and care from the university, professors, senior students, and our entire cohort."
Everyone joyfully welcomes a new academic year filled with high expectations.
