On the evening of July 1, 2022, Phan Chau Trinh University and Ohio State University (USA) conducted a specialized telemedicine consultation to discuss the treatment protocol for a lung cancer patient undergoing treatment at a hospital in Singapore.
The telemedicine consultation was attended by experts from Ohio State University, including Dr. David P Carbone and Anne M Noonan, MBBCh, who specialize in lung cancer. Phan Chau Trinh University had the participation of Dr.To Viet Thuan – Dean of Training, Dr. Le Thi Huynh Trang - Head of Preclinical Department (Oncology Specialty), Dr. Le Xuan Tuy – Deputy Director of Tam Tri General Hospital. Additionally, there were invited guests, including Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh from Da Nang Cancer Hospital and Dr. Tuan Duong from Florida, USA. Notably, a lung cancer patient also participated in the consultation.
After more than an hour of academic exchange, the experts provided consultation and recommended appropriate treatment options for the patient. The patient was very happy as the doctors from both sides helped them gain a better understanding of their current and future health condition. This telemedicine consultation not only brought hope to the patient but also demonstrated the increasingly close collaboration in medical advancements between Vietnam and the United States. Moreover, the doctors had the freedom to engage in academic discussions and share their expertise.
This remote telemedicine consultation also marked an important milestone and laid a foundation for future collaboration between the two universities.
